Pulau Perhentian: Itinerary and Budget

It's been a while fellow travelers!

Lockdown after lockdown has restrained us not only from traveling but daily chores as well. Frontliners, small businesses, parents, students and more are suffering this never ending battle. Just as the entire world is vaccinated along with booster, comes another concerning variant. Malaysia had another lockdown from June till about September this year. Freedom privileges are given to those who completed their vaccination so my reckless travel bug gotto take the chance while still can. I predict we might have another lockdown in 2022 but we'll see how. Usually my predictions come true.

Well, hubby and I wanted to spend our belated anniversarymoon + birthday trip in Langkawi but decided that Perhentian is way better. Can't beat it's crystal clear blue ocean. There's no itinerary, there's no budget. We just eat what we want, do what we like. That's what island getaway is all about. Bear in mind November is the start of monsoon season. In fact resorts of east coast islands should have closed by the end of October every year but due to lockdown just easing we went on the brink of monsoon season but got lucky as the weather was awesome throughout the trip. The sun was shining brightly on our last 2 days.

Our trip was a total of 5 days including spending a night on the bus. When it's time to return home I forfeited our bus ticket cause I do not want to ride in a night bus anymore and took a flight instead although it cost a bomb to book last minute.

 Budget

One way bus ticket Pg - Kuala Besut = RM50 per pax

One way Firefly KBR - PEN = RM345 per pax include tax

4 days  nights Bubu Resort (Premier Deluxe) = RM1548

Round trip speed boat transfer = RM100 per pax

Food for 4 days = approx RM550 or more for us both

*We did not take full board package as it gives us choice to dine in the warungs along the Long Beach. Our room only include daily breakfast for 2.

Our beautiful resort. We would like to stay at Bubu villa or Mimpi the next time we're here. Their villa is located at the other end of long beach.

Do book throught Bubu's official website or directly Whatsapp them for great deals.

Welcome to Kuala Besut jetty after like 6 hours of sleepless night on the bus. The seats were spacious and comfortable but the swirly mountain roads leading there is the problem.

Tired boy and his nasi padang for breakfast.

This is Bubu's office at Kuala Besut jetty for meet and greet session.

You will be given a free RTK antigen test kit before getting on the boat. In short, anyone who enters the island must be negative. This is called a travel bubble. Much safer than traveling around the mainland.

You will be given a welcome drink which is a non-alcoholic fruit punch upon arrival.

Typically a maskless island. Hubby says this is like lawless island but I won't elaborate more to preserve our little secret as long as everyone is comfortable. Social distancing is still practiced here unintentionally due to lack of tourists but I'm sure it's gonna be packed next year when the monsoon ends.

Walk to the other end of long beach and you will get to enjoy fire show alongside snacks, drinks and shisha. I'm surprised they serve hard liquor too.

Amazing!!!

Oh, we also have complimentary cocktail everyday. Happy hour starts from 4pm till 6pm. You can choose either alcohol or non-alcohol.

First day we had fruit punch and Cosmopolitan. Don't know why didn't give us snacks.

Second day we had Pinacolada and Frozen Margarita with pizza bruschetta.

Third day we had Blue Lagoon and BMW with smoked salmon bruschetta.
