Hello once again foodies!
Penang International Food Festival 2017 (PIFF) is held throughout the month of April in various locations. I only managed to go to the Street Food Fest on 15th April. Go to this link for calendar of events happening around this month.
Fried mantis prawn with salted egg yolk is my all time fav. You really have to try this dish or make your own by Googling the recipe if isn't available where you're staying.
The shape looks like kuih ketayap so we expected the texture and taste to be like it but turned out bland. We waited for more then half an hour for these kuih to complete steaming but end up tasted like uncooked flour. Only the gula melaka helped to make them sweet. We even brought home to resteam but still eww.
I would say this event is not worth for Penangnites as you can find these street food anytime anywhere in Penang at much cheaper price. Kinda regret of coming. However it is a very interesting event for tourists from other states and countries esp those mat saleh. You get to try classic Penang street food all in one spot.
