Review: Route 9 Restaurant

Hey foodie!

Fancy cafe hopping? Among the endless rows of cafes in the heritage lane of George Town, you might wanna add Route 9 in the list.

Situated at Bishop street, this casual dining restaurant is a great place to chill.

The entrance.

Here's the bright naturally lit front section of the restaurant. The light came from the void at the center of the colonial house.

The back section has a more groovy ambiance suitable for dinner.

I dig the artsy posters. They look so dope.

Fondant-like barbie figurine.

Notice that the prices are affordable and drinks generally are only RM3. Coffee might cost a little more. No tax and service charge too so you pay as in the menu.

We arrived at an odd hour around 2:30pm-ish that's why it looked empty.

We added RM5 for soup and drinks. The homemade mushroom soup has a unique taste unlike any other mushroom soup I've tasted. Judging by the tiny strands, secret ingredient could probably be roasted pork leg. I do add a can of those sometimes when frying vege for that extra flavour.

After a moderate waiting time, my carbonara arrived. It look and tasted more like alfredo. Needs more improvement in term of taste.

Hubby ordered cordon bleu. It somehow lack of cheese.

After he ate till the middle part only to find the cheese inside.

Will I come again? Maybe due to its relatively affordable price and need to try more dishes to judge the quality.
